NEWS & ACTIVITIES FROM THE UPTOWN FAYETTEVILLE DISTRICT & MORE...

UPTOWN FAYETTEVILLE ASSOCIATION IS PRESENTED A GIFT FROM NWA MALL...

We are really stoked about this story. At the NWA Mall's 40th Anniversary celebration on March 30th, Jeff Bishop (at right in the picture), General Manager of the mall presented a $10,000 check from the NWA Mall to T.J. Angeleno (left), treasurer of the Uptown Fayetteveille Association and General Manager of the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel. The cash gift was presented in recognition and support of the UFA's efforts at promoting the UPTOWN Fayetteville business district. Being an anchor destination, the NWA Mall plays an integral role in this promotional effort as it stands to benefit greatly from the draw of visitors to the northern region of Fayetteville. The Uptown Fayetteville Association was formed in 2010 as a 501(c) not-for-profit group representing all the businesses operating in the North Fayetteville business district. The UFA currently has over 25 active members and is supported financially by $50 annual membership dues and funding from the Fayetteville Advertising & Promotions Commission. Full membership is open to businesses operating within the defined "Uptown" district, and Associate membership is open to all other businesses or entities. To learn more about the UFA, please visit their website HERE.

UFAR CREATES EVENT TO SUPPORT HOG ATHLETICS AMID RECENT CHAOS...

It is probably safe to assume that everyone reading this piece is as exhausted as we are with the endless news about Bobby Petrino's indiscretions that have rocked the Razorback football program in the last couple of weeks. Well, like most reading this probably, we've also since moved on. However, even though Uptown Fayetteville has nothing to do with Razorback athletics, or sports for that matter... we still felt compelled to do something to show the hundred's of student-athletes across the Razorback program that their fan base remains intact! We stand with them 100%!!! This is definitely not about Petrino, but about the kids that put in the hard work in their respective sports to represent the HOGS and entertain the rest of us, all the while pursuing an education.

So, we invite you to join us and many other HOG Fans on "RED-OUT Day for RAZORBACK Athletics" on Friday, 4.20.12. We urge every HOG Fan across the entire State of Arkansas (and beyond) to wear Razorback Red or other team spirited attire to show support for our student-athletes! Please join and share this event on Facebook HERE, and sport some Razorback Red on Friday!
Go HOGS!!!!!!!!

MEIJI'S NEWLY EXPANDED DINING SPACE & LOUNGE ARE NOW OPEN!

We reported some 3 weeks back that Meiji was finalizing an expansion project into space previously occupied by "My Friends Closet," next to Spiedini Italian Grill. Well, the project has since been completed and the new space is now open. The intimate diner certainly feels a lot roomier with the added dining space. The really cool part of the expansion is that there is now a separate (yet connected) lounge area with a full bar and patio seating. Patron's can enjoy cocktails and other beverages without being surrounded by other patrons enjoying a tasty meal. According to the staff, Meiji will be hosting Happy Hour specials after work and on the weekends. The restaurant currently stays open until 9pm and the lounge until 10:30pm on week days (Monday through Thursday). On Friday and Saturday, the restaurant is open until 10:30pm while the lounge is open until midnight. Both restaurant and lounge close at 9pm on Sunday's.

So, if you're looking for an "after-hours" escape with friends & coworkers that's off the beaten path... head up to Meiji for some drinks, or go all-out and get some dinner as well!

TILTED KILT SLATED TO OPEN TO THE PUBLIC ON APRIL 17TH...

Again, we reported some 3 weeks back that the we got a sneak peak into the soon-to-open Tilted Kilt, and even reported an opening date of April 9th. Well, April 9th came and passed... and the TK is yet to open. However, according to a staff member at the restaurant, they are on schedule to open to the public on Tuesday, April 17th. The Tilted Kilt Fayetteville website shows a date of April 16th though. We don't know if the 16th is a "soft opening" or the official opening...? So, we decided to go with the confirmation of the source on the ground, and we'll stick with the 4.17.12 date!
